AK-Group Showcases Regional Maritime Integration at Egypt–Greece Conference in Athens

AK-Group reinforced its regional leadership at the prestigious “Cooperation Among Sea Neighbors” conference, held on June 25, 2025, in Athens by the Arab-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce. The event gathered ministers, ambassadors, and senior executives from across the Mediterranean to discuss enhanced collaboration in maritime transport, port development, and sea-based economic growth.

Speaking in the opening session focused on Egypt–Greece relations, Eng. Ahmed Al-Akkad, Chairman of AK-Group, outlined the Group’s integrated capabilities across maritime services, logistics, energy, and trade. He highlighted AK-Group’s active role in strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly through investments in transshipment, Ro-Ro operations, and ship agency excellence delivered by its subsidiaries ESA, PTL, and Transglobal.

Distinguished attendees included H.E. Mouayed Saleh, Dean of Arab Ambassadors and Ambassador of Iraq to Greece; Mr. Wissam El Idrissi, Undersecretary at Libya’s Ministry of Transportation; and Mr. Stefanos Gkikas, Greece’s Deputy Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy.

Eng. Ahmed Al-Akkad emphasized the deep historical and strategic ties between Egypt and Greece, calling them “strategic sea neighbors” positioned to drive energy connectivity and trade flows between Europe, Africa, and Asia. He also underscored opportunities in smart port solutions, customs integration, and green shipping.

With participation from over 30 high-level delegates, the conference highlighted the growing importance of regional maritime integration, an agenda AK-Group continues to champion.
